Kentucky For Data Centers exists to help Kentuckians understand one of the largest infrastructure and economic-development trends affecting the Commonwealth.
We believe Kentucky can compete for major technology investment while demanding responsible development, ratepayer protections, environmental stewardship, transparency, and meaningful benefits for local communities.
Data center development is arriving in Kentucky faster than most communities have had time to prepare for. County officials are being asked to evaluate proposals involving electrical loads larger than anything in their jurisdiction's history. Residents are hearing competing claims about bills, water, jobs and taxes, often without any way to tell which are supported.
This site is our attempt to close that gap. We publish plain-language explanations of how these projects work, a tracker of activity across the Commonwealth, and issue briefings that state the concern, the evidence, the uncertainty and the conditions that responsible development should meet.
We are not neutral about standards. We think large loads should pay the cost of the infrastructure they require, that cooling design and water use should be disclosed before approval, that noise limits belong in permits, and that community commitments should be written down and reported on. What we are not is an advocate for any particular project, developer or utility.
We are also not a political organization. Data center development in Kentucky involves officials, utilities, employers and residents across the political spectrum, and the questions on this site are the same regardless of who is asking them.
